Annie F. Schartner

Annie F. Schartner, 71, of Janesville passed away, surrounded by her loving family, on Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at her home following a valiant 6 year battle with leukemia and lymphoma. Annie was born June 16, 1940, the seventh of nine children of Herman and Freida Berkhahn in Fish Creek, WI. She grew up in Fish Creek where she attended school. She married James Schartner on March 3, 1962. They moved to Janesville that year. Annie was employed by Parker Pen Company for over 20 years. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Milton. Annie loved gardening, raising  flowers, sewing and porcelain dolls.
Surviving are three children, Carrie (Michael) Winnie of Janesville, Robin (Timothy) Annoye of Sturgeon Bay, WI, Richard (Ronda) Schartner of Duette, FL, seven grandchildren, William and Michael Winnie, Abby, Emily and Molly Annoye, Richie and Megan Schartner, three brothers, Gordon (Lavange) Berkhahn, Richard Berkhahn, Robert (Trudy) Berkhahn, one sister, Lois (Donald) Bongle, nieces and nephews. Her husband, James Schartner preceded her in death on November 18, 2010. She was also preceded in death by her parents and four brothers.
Annie’s family wishes to thank the U-W Hospital oncology department and Mercy Hospice for the wonderful care that she was given.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 8, 2012 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Milton with Monsignor James Uppena presiding. Burial will follow in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery. The family will greet friends and relatives from Noon to 1 p.m. Thursday at the Church. The Schartner family is being assisted by Henke-Clarson Funeral Home. www.henkeclarson.com.
